Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: 14 October 2026 · Version: 1.0

Vaux lets people sound like someone else. That is powerful, and it can be abused. This policy sets out what you must not do with the Service, including through our API. It is part of our Terms of Service and applies to you and to anyone using the Service through your account or integration.

1. Deception and impersonation

You must not use the Service to:

  1. Impersonate a real person (a specific, identifiable individual) without their explicit consent, including family members, colleagues, executives, celebrities, officials or public figures.
  2. Commit fraud or scams, including social engineering, "CEO fraud", fake emergency calls ("grandparent scams"), romance scams, investment scams, or tricking anyone into sending money, credentials or information.
  3. Get around voice-based security, such as bank or telecom voice authentication, or any identity verification, KYC, proctoring or exam system.
  4. Mislead people about who is speaking in contexts where identity matters by law or by obvious expectation: court and legal proceedings, sworn statements, police or regulatory contacts, medical consultations, job interviews where you pretend to be a different candidate, or financial transactions.
  5. Create deceptive political or civic content, including fake statements by candidates, officials or institutions, voter suppression, or election misinformation.
  6. Pass off synthetic audio as a real recording of a real person in order to defame, embarrass, blackmail or manipulate.

2. Harm to people

You must not use the Service to:

  1. harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone, or to make hoax, swatting or nuisance calls;
  2. create sexual content involving a real person without their consent, or any sexual content involving minors or that sexualises minors;
  3. promote violence, terrorism or violent extremism, or incite hatred against people based on protected characteristics;
  4. promote self-harm or suicide;
  5. target children in any way that is harmful, or let children use the Service.

3. Voice cloning

You must follow the Voice Consent Policy. In short, you may clone only your own voice or the voice of a consenting adult, with written consent you can produce on request. Never clone a minor, a deceased person or a public figure.

4. Calls, recordings and disclosure

  1. Follow all laws about recording, transcribing and intercepting communications, including laws that require every participant's consent.
  2. Where law, platform rules or your organisation require it, tell people that they are hearing a synthetic or altered voice, or that an AI agent is participating.
  3. Do not use the Service for robocalls, telemarketing or spam that breaks telecom or consumer-protection laws.

5. Platform integrity

You must not:

  1. get around rate limits, quotas, credit metering, session time limits or security controls;
  2. share, sell or publish API keys or session tokens, or embed API keys in client-side code;
  3. reverse engineer, scrape or extract voices, models or the sound library, or use Output to build or train a competing voice model;
  4. upload malware or interfere with the Service or other users;
  5. create accounts in bulk or by automated means, or evade a suspension.

6. Developer obligations

If you build on our API, you must:

  1. have terms and a privacy notice for your users that are at least as protective as ours;
  2. obtain voice-clone consent from your users and keep records of it;
  3. have a way for people to report abuse in your product, and act on reports promptly;
  4. tell us without undue delay about abuse involving our Service that you become aware of.

7. Enforcement

We may review content and activity that is reported to us or flagged by automated systems, within the limits of our Privacy Policy. If we find a violation, we may warn you, remove content or clones, limit features, suspend or close accounts without refund, and report to law enforcement or affected parties where appropriate or required. Serious violations, such as fraud, child safety issues and non-consensual impersonation, lead to immediate termination.

8. Reporting abuse

If you think Vaux has been used to impersonate you or anyone else, or to commit fraud or harassment, email [email protected] (or [email protected]) with as much detail as you can: dates, phone numbers, recordings and links. We prioritise reports involving fraud, children and safety.

This document is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. If anything here conflicts with mandatory law where you live, that law prevails.
